The Journey of a Princess: Chapter 1

Chapter 1

It never helps when people rush you to do something that you don't want to do. However there is a difference between wanting to do something and the need to do something. White felt that attending to her annual greetings party was more of the need to then want to go. She knew that meeting and greeting was all something she needed to maintain in order to impress Mr. Ford. White knew very well how much she owed Mr. Ford, after all he was the one who saved her life when she was just a little girl, who was starving in the streets of Antrolic View until the age of 10.

Antrolic View was a country famous for the extraordinary source of resources and amazing scenery that surrounds the place as well as parts of the country inside, especially the small city known as Glamorous Glassis. This city was known for the finest of all items and the scenery was so marvellous that the place looks like it's made from glass that glitter to look like crystals; that made anyone who entered the place feel happy and the urge to never want to leave the dreamlike place. This was the same for White, to her this place is like home and there isn’t a single thing that she would want to change about it, after all this is the place she has been living for 6 years with Mr. Ford and Leo Cordial.

"Princess Stilton you must hurry and get dressed or else you are going to be late for the party,” said Lalette and she started to pace back and forth on the rich red looking carpet.
"I know, I know, you don't need to tell me twice Lalette, we have plenty of time it's not like dad would say anything if I'm a little bit late,"  said White as she started to get dressed into her pink gown that was given to her as a present by Mr. Ford. Lalette looked at her with wide eyes and mouth opened.
"How can you say that?! If you’re not ready the whole palace will feel the wrath of Mr.  Ford!" She starts moving her hands in the air while still panicking as she walks back and forth, White knew Lalette was very nervous as it's her job as the maid to take care of White, she’s always been a worrywart ever since White entered the palace. White walks slowly towards the frantic Lalette who has now started to mumble in panic and has increased her speed in pacing, White manages to grab both her arms,
"Shhh...Lalette calm down, look I've already put on my dress all that is left is for you to do my hair and makeup. So do calm down as the more panic you are the time would be wasted." Finally Lalette calmed down, she moved White over to the dressing table and picked the brush and slowly started to brush her hair. White peeked at her through the mirror and caught her calming and relaxed faced, "see I told you, you had nothing to worry about," Lalette smiled through the mirror and said,
"Yes it is true, but at times  I must be in a panic because if I make one mistake  then Mr. Ford would not be happy and..." she  paused for a bit and stopped combing, "and I  won't be able to be your maid anymore," she said  in a quiet voice. White turned around and looked at her with a serious face,
"Lalette, there are  some things Mr. Ford would not be able to do, you  are like a mother to me and he knows that, if it  comes to a point where you have to leave the palace, rest assured I would make Mr. Ford bring  you back." Lalette smiled and turned White to face the mirror as she continued to comb her hair.
"Thank you White, you are so very kind and honestly you are like the daughter I never had."
"Thank you 'mum' that's very kind of you," and they both laugh.

George Rutherford was looking out of the window beside his overly exaggerated bedroom. He was staring so hard that he didn't even notice when Mr. Ford had already entered the room.
"And what may I ask has captured your interest George?"
"Oh my! Your highness," George jumps feeling his whole skin tremble in goosebumps, "wh-what brings you here?" he says as he swifts pasts the dark blue curtains and towards the sofas in the centre of the room. "Do take a seat sire," he gestures to the plush gold looking sofas. Mr. Ford looks at him with a serious looking face,
"You know George you really have been restless since this morning is everything ok?" George looks at him with a panic glance and then looks at the luxury blue carpet so he doesn't notice.
"What do you mean your majesty? I'm perfectly fine there's absolutely no trouble at all, you must be imagining things, anyways you shouldn't worry about me sire, you should be thinking about the - "
"Can you just tell me before I get really mad? I’ve known you all my life to know that there is something wrong with you so just tell me." He says with a stern voice. George looks even more panicked about it he started to think to himself if it would be a good idea to tell him the news.
"Umm...I don't think it's news you want to hear sire," he starts to fiddle with his fingers.
"Oh just tell me already!" Mr. Ford said in rage
"Err...Donté Lincoln is also invited to the greetings party this year and there are a few others who are accompanying him,"
"What?!" Mr. Ford said in a shock. "Who said that he could come? He doesn't even have an official invitation from me so how can he come?" He said feeling perplexed. George started to feel more uncomfortable and started to sweat a lot which he quickly wiped with his white cotton handkerchief, as he was doing so Mr. Ford looked at him in suspicion. "How did he end up coming here? You know George there are some things that you do that really makes me wonder."
"Your majesty! Your majesty!" Someone barges open the door as though they are in a race, Mr. Ford turns around,
"What is it?" He says in a more rough and stern voice that's fit for a true king.
"The guests have arrived already they are in the main hall you must hurry everyone is waiting for you." the servant said with a very concerned look.
"I'll be right there," he says in the same stern voice and then gestures the servant out of the room. Once the servant was out of ear reach he turns to face George and then tells him with a more friendlier voice and with that suspicious look, "and I'll speak to you later." And with that he leaves the room leaving George in a state of panic of the danger of his life.
